Annotation
A bebop pioneer, one of the top bassist of the 50-60's, a fine composer, Oscar Pettiford also was amongst the first to introduce the use of cello in jazz.
Featuring with Hawkins, Gillespie, or Ellington, he also recorded under his name, most noticably for Debut and Bethlehem.
His Impulse! session, Deep Passion, is a very good entry to his world.
