Annotation
Originally the driver for the Manic Street Preachers, Edwards - who generally went by the name Richey James - joined the band full-time as lyricist, stylist, propagandist and second guitarist. The Holy Bible is the album most associated with him, since he wrote 75% of the lyrics, which are notably harrowing.
In February 1995, Edwards disappeared, leaving his car at a notorious suicide spot by the Severn Bridge that connects England and Wales. His body was never found and the authorities stopped treating him as missing after seven years, but deceased. His family and friends (including the remaining band members) continue to hold out hope for his miraculous return, but it is highly unlikely that - if he were alive - he would ever work in the music business again.
