Trio HLP (Daniel Humair, Eddy Louiss, Jean‐Luc Ponty)

Annotation

On the birth of this short‐lived trio, Daniel Humair wrote for the 1997 re‐release:
«… the ‘Caméléon’ had such an extremely limited space for the band that, in between the bar and a wall, it allowed only for a piano, a bass, drums and a soloist who was sitting on the laps of the customers. When Eddy Louiss, Jean‐Luc Ponty and I decided to play there, the organ took up so much place that there was no question of playing without a bassist. That is more than likely what was responsible for the composition of our group as a trio. »
Thus, the Trio HLP was formed.

Twelve tracks were recorded at the Caméléon, rue Saint‐André‐des‐Arts, Paris. Only five of them made it on the first release in 1968, but all of them have been released later on.
