Biography
Although less known than his brother Cannonball, and somewhat shadowed by him, Nathaniel Adderley had a rich and extended musical career.
Switching from trumpet to cornet, he made debuts with Lionel Hampton, before joining the early Cannonball's formation.
Then playing here and there, success came for the Adderleys at the dawn of the 60's, and Nathaniel sticked with the formation until the death of Cannonball in 1975.
Leading his own quintets, he recorded a number of interesting sessions during the next 20 years for random labels.
While most people can discover him in Cannonball's records, more experienced listeners may dig into one of the later Evidence releases, like the excellent Autumn Leaves: Live at Sweet Basil.
Legal name: Nathaniel Adderley
