Annotation
Born in Chicago, Butch Warren is an extremely competent bassist, if not the most original, one of the strongest at the "back-em-up" job.
One of the Blue Note strongholds, he's to be found in most sessions from the 60's, including with Joe Henderson, Herbie Hancock, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Clark, Kenny Dorham or Jackie McLean.
Fitting well with Monk's play, he also featured extensively on the pianist records from the mid 60.
He "halfly" retired from music since the 70's, and never had a chance (or never wanted) to lead his own sessions.
