Annotation
From liner notes of Cult Themes From the Seventies:
"The current line-up has been together for two years and initially got together at Warwick University as a band called Sourpuss. A four piece indie guitar and keyboard combo, they picked up quite a following on campus, but wanting to develop further they decided to relocate to London stopping with friends in Oxford on the way. They never got to London because they discovered the delights of the vibrant, innovative and diverse music scene in the city of the dreaming spires and stayed on. Several gigs further on an act with the same name got themselves a record deal, so it was time for a change. Sourpuss became Monkey - inspired from the early eighties cult Kung Fu TV show.
Their line-up is: Andy - vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards and very good 'dingly dangly scarecrow' impression; Hugh - lead guitar, backing vocals, cultivator of band sideburns and part time sailor; Bob - bass, backing vocals, attitude and 'supplier' of nubile groupies (bit of a pixie magnet!); Rob - drums, percussion and looking evil."
