The Big Hits From Broadway

This is less a review about the music; if you're curious its just your standard fare of big band music covering various standards; but more of a review of the digital release from TP4 Music.

TP4 are a relatively unknown organization that are finding various "public domain" releases and placing them onto streaming services to be enjoyed by the average modern listener; something I could get behind. Only if the quality of their recordings was half decent. As like so many of these companies who are interested in re-issuing old recordings, they always seem to perform the worst transfers going. The tracks are full of strange drop-outs and other audio anomolies, which likely indicates they used an old record as the source and possibly ran a rather heavy handed "clean-up" task over the top. Considering that this record was also released on reel-to-reel tape, they could have chosen a better source.
