My god is this what boy-bands sound like in 2018? If so, please take me back to the 1990s and early 2000s.
I'll preface this with the fact I've never been a big Boyzone fan at any point in my life or their career, they've always made middle of the road, inoffensive "pop music" suitable for radio play and easy injestion by your out-of-touch grandparents. So for that reason I was expecting that these (now) old codgers would be recycling their music from their "golden era", but alas that isn't the case and instead they've gone full on dad-cringe by trying to imitate the latest in pop's offerings. You've got EDM inspired tracks, lots of songs about love (although not exactly out of their wheelhouse) and some swearing (yes you heard it right, a couple of shit's are dropped in this album).
But none of it works, it just feels exactly like an imitation. It doesn't feel trendy or cool, it just feels cringey and terrible. Clearly it didn't work out that well for them as our dear Irish friends never bothered to follow this album up (at time of writing).
Get's two stars on the Ed Sheeran track, which isn't terrible, the rest should have been left on the cutting room floor.
