Mojo Presents: Made in Britain 2007

Not trying to "diss" my home country but this "Made in Britain" celebatory cover mount CD is just lacking. It's not that the music is exactly terrible (with the exception of the 1990s of which I'd rather not bother listening to again) it's just all very samey. I know that this was a "boom" period of UK Indie rock but aside from The View's most popular hit (a live rendition here) you're not going to get any of the big names or acts you might expect. That could be seen as fair enough considering the theme is likely to introduce new artists, but even then what's presented feels lack-luster; there's some good tracks a surprisingly "up-beat" entry from Malcolm Middleton, an entry from Bat for Lashes (although not a personal favourite track) and a newcomer for me with Another Hallow Line from The Young Knives.

It's hard to put it into words without sounding like a massive ding-dong, but I just was hoping for more.
