This album challenges the sweet nature of pop music with edgier lyrics that resonate with the writer. The artist, Ashley Frangipane, who goes by the stage name Halsey, writes without holding back. The lyrics explore themes of relationships, independence, and a new generation of freethinkers. The single from this album, "New Americana" has lyrics that give a sense of unity to the new generation while the world's morals and views change to be more open. Clearly, the artist expresses herself freely in this album, which is why I believe it gives off an empowering tone. Overall, this album begins and ends strong.
