Since I Met You Baby is a 1982 cover song album by Jamaican lovers rock singer George Faith. It was released on the Hit GG's record label in Jamaica while the other version was released in the UK on the GG's record label, and produced by Alvin Ranglin. The album features cover versions of popular songs from the 1950s and 1960s, including "Since I Met You Baby" by Ivory Joe Hunter, "Daddy's Home" by Shep and the Limelites, and "Never Let Me Go" by Johnny Ace.
Since I Met You Baby should have been a commercial success, reaching number one on the Jamaican album chart and number two on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. The album should have also received critical acclaim, with AllMusic calling it "a solid collection of covers" and "a great introduction to Faith's smooth, soulful vocals."
The album's title track, a cover of Ivory Joe Hunter's hit single, is a classic lovers rock ballad that features Faith's signature smooth, soft, warm, creamy and soulful vocals and Ranglin's lush production. Other highlights of the album include Faith's soulful renditions of "Daddy's Home" and "Never Let Me Go," as well as his soulful versions of "This Is My Story", originally performed by husband-and-wife pop music vocal harmony duo Gene & Eunice and "The Great Pretender" originally done by The Platters.
Since I Met You Baby should have been a timeless album that showcases George Faith's smooth vocals and Alvin Ranglin's lush production. It should have been a must-have for fans of lovers rock and soul music.
