A Death, a Mexican and a Mormon

~ Release by Neil Landstrumm (see all versions of this release, 2 available)

Annotation

Neil Landstrumm’s third EP in four months sees the Scottish mischief maker in playful form once again. This being a CPU release, things are firmly rooted in classic house/techno stylings, though Landstrumm being Landstrumm he doesn’t necessarily do things by the book. Opener ‘The Tomorrow People’ is an 808 cowbell jam that goes fully silly on the 303 for the final minute. The middle two tracks are both bleepy, wheezy and slightly X Files-y techno jams, with ‘Chrome and Ferric’ in particular doing a nice balancing act between thick chords and strange chatty synths. ‘The Chemical Con’ closes out A Death, A Mexican And A Mormon in typically cheeky style - is this an anti-acid-acid track?
