Live in Paris, 1965

~ Release by Bill Evans Trio (see all versions of this release, 2 available)

Annotation

Derived from a radio broadcast of a performance at the Maison de l'ORTF in Paris on February 13, 1965, "The Bill Evans Trio Live in Paris". This is the concert concluded on the current release, which was taken from a radio broadcast. As a bonus, we have added a rare radio broadcast from New York's Birdland, which also features Chuck Israels on bass, but with Paul Motian on drums. The announcer is Sidney "Symphony Sid" Torin, whose voice and pet phrases are well-known by Jazz fans. Torin presented many live broadcasts from Birdland, the Royal Roost, the Hi Hat and other venues, which were fortunately saved for posterity by the likes of Boris Rose and a few more aficionados, who were eagerly waiting at home with their recording machines, ready to capture the broadcasts' every note. That's probably how these three tunes were preserved.
