Aantekening

Although the Concerto for Flute in G major is attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, scholarly opinion is very doubtful that he actually wrote the piece. However, the actual composer is not known. Pergolesi achieved a great reputation, but died young, aged only 26, and it is believed that unscrupulous and opportunistic musicians used his name to sell their own inferior music. That said, the Flute Concerto is nonetheless held in quite high regard.
