Annotation

“The people on the cover of this album are Genuine People” Allan Sherman says on the back cover. Quoted from Allan on the back cover, “From left to right, they are:

  • My Genuine Daughter, Nancy, age ten, in a rented riding habit.
  • My Genuine Son, Robbie, age thirteen, holding a rented polo mallet aloft, pointing it at the sky, not at any people, because he is observing our family motto, ‘With Mallets Toward None’.
  • My Genuine Wife, Dee, in a borrowed mink polo coat.
  • Our Genuine Maid, Maxine, who, among other wonderful things, knows Where Everything Is in our house.
  • Our Genuine Beagle, Jackson B. Sherman, who, so help me, once buried a bagel.
  • In the background, Maxine’s Genuine Husband, Leroy, is sitting in our Genuine Lincoln, on which there is a Genuine Chattel Mortgage.”
