New Mule Skinner Blues (revised lyrics, first recorded by Bill Monroe ca. 1950)
~ Song
Annotation
This version, with lyrics by Vaughan Horton, was recorded by Bill Monroe in 1950. However, he rarely performed this version. The song remained in his repertoire for the rest of his career, but he used the original lyrics as on his first recording in 1940.
The lyrics to this version begin: ''Good morning foreman, good morning boss
Do you need another mule skinner with a black snake whip to toss''
